Lady Bird Johnson once said, "Where flowers bloom so does HOPE".
This painting entitled "HOPE" is something very different from my normal wildlife paintings.
It was painted with oils on canvas, unframed, and the size is 118cm x 84cm.
100% of proceeds realised from this painting will go to Stop Trafficking Of People NPC.
During the first part of 2025 the ladies at our Chapel hosted a presentation by Stop Trafficking Of People NPC.
I decided to do this painting to draw attention to the enormous problem of human trafficking.
It is a massive scourge in our society, as you will realise from the Stop Trafficking Of People NPC website. We need to be aware and spread the word.
When I first started the painting I didn't realise how many things the Lord would point out to me which are relevant to trafficking today:
The little girl in a field of poppies speaks of innocence and trust.
The butterfly alighting on the poppy the child is touching, calls to mind new life and innocence.
The red poppies - flowers of remembrance for those lost.
The flowers that are fading into the distance - people lost to trafficking (particularly children and young people, but nobody is exempt).
The little girl clutching the two poppies - hold on to each other and always be mindful of the danger.
The tangled undergrowth - trafficking is a huge problem with so many facets that are so difficult to unravel.
